Diaries of the 1st Erasmus+ project meeting

1.10. – 5.10.2018 at Kirkkoharjun school, Kirkkonummi, Finland

Monday: At 3pm we landed at Helsinki Airport and Elenna a teacher from the Finnish school picked us up and drove us to school. The girls waited for us at the school yard and the boys were in the kitchen. All teams had a great meal which the Finnish and Estonians had prepared. Then I drove with my host student Aaro and met their family. They showed me their home, it was really great. Today I meet some new people and found a lot of friends And I learned that lots of Finnish people have their own sauna I can be proud that I can live in a Finish family.

On Tuesday we met at school at 8:15 am. We had to wear warm clothes. At 8:30 am we took a bus to Nuuksio National Park and Finnish Nature Centre Haltia. There we were divided into two groups. First, my group was in the Centre and we explored the museum. There we learned about different animals in Finnish forests and about the many national parks in Finland. Then we went out into the forest and were led around by a guide. We learned that the building of the museum resembled a birth sitting on its nest. When we arrived back in the Centre we had lunch. After lunch we all hiked together through the forest and there we grilled sausages at a campfire. After that we went to the bus and we went back to school. Then we went home.

On Wednesday we had our presentations in the morning. I was a bit afraid of that, but after I had started speaking, it went very well. After that we went to Helsinki and we visited many sights, theatres and museums. I really liked the mix between the old buildings and the new ones. After that we had 2 hours of shopping which were too long, but we could find very interesting shops. After that we went to the Kiasma art museum and had dinner there. In my opinion it was the best food on our trip.

Thursday: At the morning we got some basic information about Estonia and Finland and the schools through the presentations, the others got to know some facts about Germany and our school. Though the presentations got us all scared and we were shy first it wasn´t that bad as we learned how it is to hold a presentation in front of more than 20-30 people. I ,personally, liked the second part of the day as we saw and learned/visited some famous sights in Helsinki. We had time to spend some time alone in small groups and then each small group went around Helsinki , did some shopping or just visited further places.

At friday we met at school at 8am. The Finns and Estonians had their presentations about the ingredients they had used for the meal on Monday, and the Finns had their presentations about the forest. After that we visited classes from lesson 2 to 3. I was in a robots class and it looked very difficult. Then we had to say goodbye and take the train to the airport, many of us shed a lot of tears because it was very sad.
